The LG KizON: Parents’ ultimate smart device

Following the success with their child-friendly tablets, LG Electronics has announced a new wearable device for kids, called KizON.

The LG KizON comes in the form of a wristband, and is designed for pre-school, and primary school children, and allows parents to track their kids.

Dr. Jong-Seok Park, president and CEO of LG said:

“Children as well as the elderly are ideal customers for wearable technologies. Wearables allow us to stay connected without the worry of losing a device or the inconvenience of having to carry a large item in a pocket. At LG, we are committed to exploring more ways to incorporate wearable devices into consumers lives in line with our vision to become a leader in wearables.”

The LG KizON reports location via GPS and WiFi, giving parents information about their children throughout the day. The wristband has only one button, which when pressed, will call a specific telephone number, that is pre-configured through the companion application on an Android phone or tablet.

Parents can also communicate with their children, and if they don’t answer in ten seconds, the KizON automatically connects the call so that the parent can listen to the surrounding sounds via the device’s microphone.

The gadget has a playful look, that kids will enjoy, and comes in attractive colour options of blue, pink and green, with the option of unique design element from Hello Kitty and others. The band is constructed using an eco-friendly Polyurethane material, which is water-resistant as well as stain resistant.

KizON is worn by children but the real costumers are parents, which are given peace of mind.
