Disney Acquire LucasFilm

Walt Disney Company has announced that it has officially acquired Lucas Film and all its subsidiaries, including Lucasarts Studios for approximately $4 Billion. George Lucas stated that he was glad to see the Star Wars franchise being passed down from one generation to the next, and the time has finally come for him to pass the franchise to a new generation of filmmakers who will make it possible for Star Wars to live on beyond Lucas' lifetime. At the moment all employees at Lucasarts will stay put and all studios will stay in place and continue normal operation, though the future of the current and future Triple A projects is still unsure, as the current CEO Robert Iger said that he's be directing the studios toward the smartphone and social platforms rather that the consoles. The company is more likely to be licensing console projects rather than publishing or developing titles.
